91-year-old man fires shots at area McDonald’s after other customer throws smoothie

RICHMOND — UPDATE @ 11:38 a.m. (May 7)

The Indiana McDonald’s altercation that later led to a firearm being discharged arose from an argument in the drive thru according to the Richmond Police Department. Authorities report that there was a bit of rage between two cars next to each other in the drive thru and an argument eventually ensued. Once Phillip Bailey received his order he reportedly threw his smoothie at 91 year old Johnnie Douglas’ car.  Douglas then responded by firing a revolver at Bailey, who was unharmed. Douglas and Bailey were both arrested and Douglas was charged with criminal recklessness, while Bailey was charged with intimidation and disorderly conduct.

There was no damage located at a Richmond McDonalds after a 91 year-old, Johnnie Douglas, fired a gun at Phillip Bailey, 39. Both men were seen arguing in the restaurant before the shot was fired. Douglas was arrested for Criminal Recklessness and Pointing a Firearm. Bailey was arrested for Intimidation and Disorderly Conduct.

Richmond police confirmed shots were fired at a McDonald's drive-thru at 18 E. Main St. in Richmond early this morning.

Johnnie Douglas, 91, fired a shot while sitting in the drive-thru reportedly because he was upset over his food order.

Douglas was seen arguing with McDonald's employee Phillip Bailey, 39, who was in front of Douglas in the drive-thru line.

Bailey was not working at the time of the argument.

Douglas was arrested on felony charges of pointing a loaded fire arm at another person and criminal recklessness.

Bailey was arrested for disorderly conduct and intimidation.

No one was hurt in the incident.
