Then, around 2:30 p.m., state troopers started getting multiple 911 calls reporting a reckless driver on Interstate 75 south leaving Tipp City.

The van exited I-75 at Benchwood Road, driving into other jurisdictions.

It wasn’t until around 3 p.m., that troopers began to receive more calls about the reckless driver heading south on I-75 once again from Benchwood, Kramer said.

After getting back onto I-75 south, the car got off onto Stanley Avenue and turned around getting onto I-75 north heading toward Tipp City.

Troopers say there were more 911 calls that came in about the reckless driver, some even reported the car driving between 80 and 90 mph.

The car crashed into two other vehicles on Main and Garber after he exited I-75 north at state Route 571 in Tipp City.

It wasn’t until the aftermath of the crash that troopers realized they had a 9-year-old behind the wheel, Kramer said.

No one was injured in the impact and the boy was taken into custody.

He was later released to his grandma but troopers say he could be facing a list of traffic charges, including grand theft auto in Miami County Juvenile Court.
