Bullet holes line the Greene County Democratic Party building in Xenia, reward offered

XENIA — Five bullet holes were left in the Greene County Democratic Party building in Xenia after a shooting that occurred some time between late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

The Xenia Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person who shot a gun at the building located on South Detroit Street.

“These incidents were cowardly acts perpetrated by people who do not represent who we are in Greene County," said Chairwoman Doris Adams. The persons who performed these acts of vandalism, violence and terrorism pose dangers to the safety of our citizens. Intimidations made against a political party are a threat to our democracy and the rule of law."

Adams, who has been chairwoman for 14 years, said she discovered the damage Saturday morning and was glad no one was at the building when shots were fired.

Four of the bullets hit glass and one struck the door.

“We’re offering a $500 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individuals who did this," Adams said.

When Adams saw the bullet holes and broken glass, she said it didn’t shatter her spirit. It strengthened it.

“I come from a long line of women that are highly opinionated and we don’t back down for anybody,” said Adams.

The damage to repair the vandalism in adding up, Adams said.

In April, someone threw a piece of concrete through the same window that was shot at over the weekend.

“It cost $537 to replace. It’s been up [for] a week or so and now it has two bullet holes and needs to be replaced again," Adams said.

The investigation remains ongoing by the Xenia Police Department.
