MT. PLEASANT, PA. — A tour bus scheduled to make several stops in the Miami Valley on its way to Cincinnati from Rockaway, New Jersey, crashed and five people were killed.

Sunday afternoon the bus crashed on the Pennsylvania Turnpike about 30 miles east of Pitsburgh and at least 57 people were injured in addition to the five fatalities.

The bus was scheduled to make stops in Miami Twp., Vandalia, Springfield, and Cincinnati, according to the bus tour’s website.

State Police say the bus was on a downward slope when it tried to make a turn, but didn’t make it.

Two UPS Trailers, a FedEx trailer and a car that was traveling behind the tour bus all collided.

We are working to learn if anyone on that bus had any connections to our area.
