SPRINGFIELD — A post celebrating 2-year-old Jai’en Welliford after he finished his last chemo treatment has gone viral on Facebook.
Welliford was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in December.
He was admitted to the Dayton Children’s Hospital in December and then transferred to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus in January.
His mother, Lacey Welliford, told News Center 7 that he was in the hospital for another month and at one point his organs were shutting down.
Jai’en had a total of five rounds of chemotherapy, but has finally finished his chemo treatments.
Lacey celebrated the momentous occasion by posting it on Facebook and the post received over 80 thousand likes.
Lacey said her son is still fighting and needs more treatments before he is in remission.
