In mid-May, Millie Morris’s husband was filling her car up with gas at a station on East Third Street. He went into the store to pay, and that’s when someone looked, then got in and took off.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, some of it was caught on video, and this morning more video on a ring doorbell led to the car’s return.

Morris’s ring doorbell camera caught a man walking to her door Wednesday morning, but his message is what stunned her.

Morris rushed down her stairs but the man was gone.

He’d left his number, and Morris’s neighbor called that phone number and convinced the man to tell them where the car was sitting.

She drove to Hedges Street and spotted her white car for the first time in four months.

Morris said she believes the man who came to her door, didn’t know the car was stolen, prepared to buy it, then saw her name on the title paperwork.

“It’s been really hard on us without our car but God is good and he’s got it back to us,” Morris said.

Morris obtained a video back in May from the gas station that shows a man circling the car after her husband went inside.

He then got in and drove away. That man hasn’t been caught, another reason her husband was shocked when she drove to his work to show the vehicle.

Morris believes the man who came to her door did a good deed.

“Four months later, my car is back, it’s a miracle,” Morris said.

Morris had to call the police to have them confirm the vehicle is hers, take the hold off it, then she had to go get new paperwork and plates and tags.

Police continue to search for the man they believe stole the car originally.
