The student was notified Friday of the positive test, and was last at school and participated in a match Tuesday, the spokesperson said.

The student who tested positive was in “close contact” with another member of the tennis team. The second student-athlete will self-quarantine and monitor symptoms for 14 days, a district spokesperson said.

Students who were in class with the student who tested positive Monday and Tuesday have been notified and have been asked to monitor their symptoms.

“Our accurate records made it possible to notify those who had contact with the student in a timely manner,” Oakwood Schools Superintendent Dr. Kyle Ramey said in a media release. “We will continue to work with our families and public health officials to try to reduce the risk to our students and staff.”

“We encourage everyone to be vigilant to prevent the spread of the virus and hope for a speedy recovery for our student.”

Earlier this month, Oakwood announced a member of the girl’s junior high school volleyball team also tested positive Aug. 17.
