NEW CARLISLE — Friday night’s scheduled varsity football game between Carroll High School and Tecumseh High School has been cancelled due to potential COVID-19 exposure by members of Tecumseh’s team, according to the Tecumseh school district.
The cancellation was made by “erring on the side of caution” after at least two members of the team were possibly exposed to COVID-19, Tecumseh superintendent Paula Crew told News Center 7.
Crew added the district is trying to keep students in the school buildings as long as possible and the cancellation was made to limit more potential exposures.

The game was scheduled between the two sides after both teams lost in the Ohio High School Athletic Association state playoffs. Tecumseh fell to Xenia Oct. 9 and Carroll lost to Trotwood-Madison Oct. 16.
Last week, Tecumseh only played one half against Urbana due to low numbers on Urbana’s team, according to a statement posted on Tecumseh’s athletic website.
