Dollar General armed robber tosses tracking device, police searching area

UPDATE @ 4:30 p.m.: Police are searching for the Dollar General armed robber, who made off with cash but tossed the tracking device that was included with the loot he took from the store, 2312 N. Main St.

The robber, who said he had a handgun but did not show it, made off with some cash and the tracking device that was included with the money from the cash drawer, a Dayton detective said.

The robber tossed the tracking device not long after he left the store, the detective said. Police located it and will be processing it for fingerprints, the detective said.

Surveillance video cameras captured a blurry photo of the robber, who was dressed in what appears to be a gray hooded sweatshirt or jacket and dark pants.

Police are searching in the area of East Parkwood Drive, Ernst Avenue and Newport Avenue.

No one was injured in the robbery.

A possible armed robbery has been reported at Dollar General, 2312 North Main Street.
