Beavercreek KinderCare child identified

UPDATE 2 p.m. Sept. 12:

The Greene County Coroner's office has identified the 4-year-old girl who died at the Beavercreek Kindercare as Alexandra Giles of Wilberforce. According to a police report, the girl's mother worked at the daycare, but had left to take another one of her children to an appointment when the death occurred.

UPDATE 2:50 p.m.

Greene County Coroner Dr. Kevin Sharrett said the death of a 4-year-old girl is not related to an infectious disease. The child did not show any signs of infection before or after her death. The child's autopsy was performed this morning.

There are no signs of foul play or any abuse or trauma to the child.

UPDATE @11:55 a.m.

The cause of death for a four-year-old that died after collapsing on the playground at the Beavercreek KinderCare Learning Center is undetermined. A cause of death could be available in four weeks, according to the Greene County Coroner's Office.

The girl's name has not been released.

UPDATE @ 4:25p.m.

Beth Rubin, director of Greene County Job and Family Services, said the agency, which oversees children services in the county, was aware of the girl's death today.

"It was reported appropriately, but there were no allegations of abuse or neglect so we have no other involvement."

UPDATE @ 3p.m.

Bill Harden, chief investigator at the Greene County Coroner's Office, said an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday to determine the child's cause of death.

He said the child was taken to SOIN Medical Center where she died.

"It was unexpected news for the family. She was OK this morning when she went to school," Harden said.

KinderCare Corporate released the following statement:

"We are heartbroken that a child passed away today after collapsing on the playground at our Beavercreek KinderCare Learning Center. We are looking into how this happened. From what we've learned so far, our staff promptly began performing CPR and called 9-1-1. We were later informed that the child passed away at the hospital. Our thoughts are with this child's family and with all of our families and staff at the Beavercreek KinderCare. "

The child who collapsed at the Beavercreek KinderCare has passed away, according to a statement from a KinderCare spokesperson.

The child's name has not been released.

UPDATE @ 12:49p.m.

A spokeswoman for KinderCare Corporate Communications tells us they are working to find out exactly what happened.

She said they will release a statement about the incident later today.

UPDATE @ 11:02a.m.

Medics had cleared the scene before 11 a.m. but Beavercreek police vehicles remained in the parking lot of the early childhood facility.

It may be the child was rushed to the hospital, but we're working to get confirmed details about what happened.

FIRST REPORT

Crews in Beavercreek are responding to a report of a child not breathing at the KinderCare, 2221 N. Fairfield Road.

The call for service for a 4-year-old unresponsive child on the playground happened at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Scanner traffic indicated emergency first responders were doing CPR.
