INITIAL REPORT (April 30):
A Greene County grand jury on Monday indicted a Beavercreek man on charges that include murder in the death of his father in March.
Arraignment in Judge Michael Buckwalter’s courtroom has yet to be scheduled, county Prosecutor Stephen K. Haller’s office said.
David Simpson, 54, is charged also with felonious assault. He told police he used a knife to cut Ora Simpson’s throat on March 18, according to court records.
Ora Simpson, 85, also of Beavercreek, “sustained injuries on his neck consistent with that of a knife or a sharp edged instrument,” the Greene County coroner’s office said.
The coroner’s investigator also said Ora Simpson had numerous cuts, evidence of blunt force trauma and defensive injuries, police wrote in a statement of facts filed in Fairborn Municipal Court.

According to the court records, David Simpson told police he found his father unresponsive in the garage of a home in the 3000 block of Felton Drive on March 18 about 3:45 a.m.
Officers contacted David Simpson at the front door “and saw that he had blood on the front of his sweater,” according to court records.
Police searched the home and found blood on the carpet leading from the kitchen to the living room, as well as on a recliner and other items, according to the documents.
David Simpson told police “he had a verbal argument with his father, and claimed that (his) father struck him,” the statement of facts read.
“He further stated that he passed out and approximately eight to ten hours later, he found his father in the attached garage when he was taking the trash out,” court records showed.
