Motorcyclist ID’d in fatal Butler Twp. crash

BUTLER TWP. — UPDATE @ 7:58 a.m.:

Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the man who died in a motorcycle accident Friday evening as 52-year-old Tim Ashburn. Ashburn was pronounced dead at the scene after he struck a utility pole shorty after 10 p.m. in the 7900 block of Frederick Pike.

UPDATE @ 12:20 a.m.:

A motorcyclist in his 50s who lived in the local area was killed Friday night in a single-vehicle crash on Frederick Pike, Sgt. Matt Robinson with the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Dayton Post said.

The man’s name was being withheld pending family notification.

UPDATE @ 10:50 p.m.

A motorcyclist has died in a crash tonight, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Dayton Post said.

The 7900 block of Frederick Pike is shut down in both directions as troopers investigate.

The motorcyclist struck a utility pole, and Dayton Power & Light crews also were called to the scene.

FIRST REPORT (June 15):

Crews were called tonight to a report of a serious-injury motorcycle crash.

The accident was reported around 10:10 p.m. in the 7900 block of Frederick Pike.

Frederick Pike is blocked at Alvira Avenue as police investigate the crash.

The motorcyclist’s name, age and condition are not immediately available.
