INITIAL REPORT (Jan. 9):
A man is in jail after he allegedly shot and killed his mother’s cat Sunday night.
Terrill Jerome Nelson, 26, is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of weapons violations and cruelty to animals.
The suspect’s mother called 9-1-1 around 11 p.m. to report her son was intoxicated, being disruptive and is refusing to leave, according to the Dayton police report.
Police said officers got on scene and soon learned the 9-1-1 caller’s cat had been shot in the side. It was still alive but while an officer called the dispatch center to inquire about emergency veterinarian services, the cat passed away, according to the report.
