A Dayton man punched a Vandalia police officer in the face during an incident at the Waffle House on East National Road earlier this month.
Police said Deontaye Trammell, 20, was asked to leave the restaurant on March 1 and when officers arrived he was standing in the front doorway of the business, according to an incident report.
Officers asked Trammell to move from the restaurant entrance, however police said when they grabbed Trammell’s arm he resisted arrest and eventually punched one officer and injured a second officer.
The two officers were transported to the hospital for treatment, but are expected to be OK.
Officers found Trammell to be in possession of suspected marijuana in addition to $475 in cash, police said.
Trammell was convicted on a single count of assault and resisting arrest.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 6.
