Dayton man wanted on murder charge for deadly shooting, crash

A 23-year-old Dayton man is wanted for murder and other felonies after police said he shot from a car he was riding in, striking and killing a person in another car on Needmore Road last month, court records show.

Marvin Herron has been charged with two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault and one count of discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises. A warrant is out for his arrest.

Heron fired a handgun from the passenger seat of a silver Chevrolet Impala in the area of the 1600 block of Needmore Road on Aug. 14, detectives wrote in a statement of facts and affidavit filed in Dayton Municipal Court.

"In doing so, the bullet from the gun that Herron fired travelled over the roadway and struck victim Matthew Aalim in the back of his head," court records read.

Aalim was driving another vehicle, which detectives said he crashed following the shooting.

Aalim died a day later from his injuries.

It's not immediately known if Herron and Aalim knew each other.
