Man inside Dayton apartment shoots, misses pair standing outside

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 7:35 p.m.

A man was inside an apartment when he shot at a couple who were standing by a car this evening, Dayton police Sgt. Randy Beane said.

A 911 caller reported that the gunman stuck his arm out the window and fired two shots in the 400 block of Briarwood Avenue.

Detectives are now speaking to the gunman, who did not hit either person. Beane said there was an altercation during which the man fired at them.

The shooter likely will face a weapons charge, Beane said.

A 911 caller reported that a man stuck his arm out the window and fired two shots at a man outside in the 400 block of Briarwood Avenue in Dayton.

The man was apparently not injured, and the gunfire was precipitated by screaming and yelling, the caller said.

An armed man reportedly stuck his arm out the window of an apartment this evening and fired two shots.

The incident was reported around 6:25 p.m. in the 400 block of Briarwood Avenue in Dayton.

According to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center, no one outdoors has been reported injured, but it’s not clear whether anything was struck by the gunfire.
