DAYTON — A Dayton police officer struck his head on a sidewalk Friday night after he said a woman slammed a gate into him while she tried to flee.
Angela C. Williams, 37, remains in the Montgomery County Jail following her arrest on suspicion of assault on a police officer, failure to comply, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a Dayton police report.

Williams was riding a bicycle without a rear red light that was headed south on South Monmouth Street around 11:30 p.m. when police say she would not stop. She allegedly rode up a sidewalk, pedaling faster as she tried to make a turn in a northbound alley. “In doing so, she lost control of her bike and crashed,” the report stated.
Williams then ran, ultimately to the front of a house in the 40 block of South Philadelphia Street. She continued to refuse to stop after the officer stated he told her multiple times she was under arrest.

“I can’t, I’m sorry,” she told him after she reached the fence surrounding the front yard of the house, according to the report, claiming to suffer PTSD from past experiences with police.
“She then purposely slammed the fence gate into me, striking my left arm and left leg. I have zero doubt in my mind this was done with purpose to cause me harm,” the officer wrote.
The officer’s duty belt then got caught on the gate. This forced the officer to the ground, where he hit his head. The officer stated he experienced “an overwhelming dizzy sensation” and had other maladies and had to be checked by medics.
A second officer was able to take Williams into custody. She is due Monday in Dayton Municipal Court.
