Deputy crashes cruiser into house in Columbus

COLUMBUS — A Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy crashed into a house Tuesday while responding to a call for an officer in trouble.

The deputy slammed into the west Columbus house just before noon, according to Columbus police, our media partner 10TV.com WBNS in Columbus reported.

The crash happened when the deputy was trying to go around a car, which then turned left in front of the deputy. The cruiser had its lights and sirens activated, and the car’s driver did not yield the right of way, Sheriff’s deputy Marc Gofstein told 10TV.com.

The deputy was injured but will recover. The driver of the car was not hurt, according to 10TV.com.

The crash remains under investigation.
