Charles R. Robbins, 61, is awaiting arraignment Dec. 11 on a vehicular manslaughter charge in Miami County Municipal Court.
Robbins, of Sidney, was driving a minivan June 30 west on Ohio 571 near Ohio 201 in Bethel Twp. when he rear-ended a Honda driven by Dan Hasting, 54, of New Carlisle, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.
Hasting had slowed for a road striping truck that was not involved in the crash, deputies said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his wife, Elizabeth “Libbee” Hasting, was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

The impact forced Hasting’s vehicle into oncoming traffic, and the car was struck by a pickup truck driven by James Elkins of New Carlisle.
Robbins and his passenger, Janet Robbins of Sidney, and Elkins were all taken to Upper Valley Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, deputies said.
Deputies said alcohol, drugs and speed were not suspected in the crash.
The vehicular manslaughter case against Robbins was filed Nov. 28, court records show. The charge is a second-degree misdemeanor.
