Fairborn standoff ends, Digital Academy lockdown lifted

As a result of the standoff, Fairborn schools students who live in the Rona Hills neighborhood, where the standoff occurred, were bused to an alternate location, school officials said, noting that parents were notified in advance.

UPDATE@3:04 p.m.:

Fairborn police have confirmed that the standoff ended peacefully as the suspect was taken into custody. In addition, the lock down at Fairborn Digital Academy has also been lifted, schools officials said.

UPDATE@11:52 p.m.:

We are being told that the original call to police was for a welfare check. When officers showed up at the home, an unidentified man came to the door and displayed a weapon. Police backed away and called the Regional Emergency Response Team in an effort to continue a dialogue with the individual.

As a precaution, officials put nearby Fairborn Digital Academy on lock down.

We have reports of police activity on War Wick Place in Fairborn.

Police have blocked off War Wick Place, and it appears that they are trying to make contact with someone in a home located on the street. We have a crew on the scene and will update you as soon as we have more information.
