Deputies looking for gunman who robbed Pilot Travel Center in Preble County

UPDATE @ 9:35 p.m. (April 22):

The suspect in the armed robbery that was reported Friday night at Pilot Travel Center got away with an unknown amount of cash, according to the Preble County Sheriff’s Office.

The robbery was reported at the business on U.S. 127, just south of Interstate 70, around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

An initial investigation found a man wearing a ski mask entered the front of the store, approached employees while pointing a gun, and ordered them to open the cash drawers, deputies said. After taking cash, the suspect fled the store running north.

The suspect is between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 and was wearing a jogging suit with a New Orleans Saints emblem on the left chest, according to investigators.

Based on security video, the suspect is believed to have got into a black Ford Escape SUV that was parked nearby and occupied by a second man. The vehicle, possibly with a temporary license plate, left traveling east on I-70, according to investigators.

FIRST REPORT @ 11:55 p.m. (April 19):

An armed robbery was reported late Friday night at the Pilot Travel Center north of Eaton in Preble County.

The robber, carrying a pistol, had his face covered by a dark-colored ski mask during the holdup reported shortly after 11:30 p.m. at the truck stop, 6141 N. U.S. 127.

The robber and another person fled in a black Ford Escape with a temporary tag last seen headed east on Interstate 70, according to initial reports.

No injuries were reported, and the incident is under investigation by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office.
