Large fights outside Orbit Fun Center prompt immediate changes

HUBER HEIGHTS — Fights involving more than 200 youths Saturday after a teen skate night at Orbit Fun Center of Huber Heights prompted the business to make changes.

Now, for all skating sessions that start after 8 p.m., patrons 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult or guardian 21 and older. However, those who have their own skates will not need a chaperone, the business posted Wednesday night on social media.

Because of the number of fights that were taking place, Huber Heights police issued a “signal 99” countywide call for officer assistance.

Eight agencies responded: the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Dayton Police Department, Vandalia, Moraine, Trotwood, Brookville and Five Rivers Metro Parks Rangers responded with Huber Heights, and the extra manpower helped break up the fights.

Huber Heights police made five arrests in connection to the fights after the teen skate night at the business, 5001 Nebraska Ave.

Two juveniles were arrested and transported to a juvenile detention center, two juveniles were charged and released to their parents, and one adult was charged. All five were charged with disorderly conduct, a low-level misdemeanor. Police said it was not clear what triggered the fights.
