Man in jail after SWAT call-out at Greene County home

XENIA TWP. — UPDATE @11:55 p.m.

A 29-year-old Xenia Twp. man is facing inducing panic and domestic violence charges after two family members flagged down a passing Greene County deputy and said he had a gun inside their Snively Road home.

Scott Richard Stacy was booked at 10:48 p.m. into the Greene County Jail on the two misdemeanor charges and is awaiting arraignment.

FIRST REPORT

A special-weapons and tactics team was at the ready this evening for a Greene County man who allegedly had a gun during a dispute with other family members.

“One of our deputies on patrol was stopped by a couple who claimed to have allegedly fled their house after a domestic with another family member,” Maj. Shawn Prall of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office said.

The couple flagged down the deputy sometime between 3 and 3:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Snively Road in Xenia Twp. near Yellow Springs.

Based on the information the couple gave the deputy and some background on the suspect, Prall said the sheriff's office decided to call a SWAT team.

“A SWAT team and our hostage negotiation team were called out, arrived on scene and it was a very short conversation with our hostage negotiation team that resolved the situation peacefully. The subject came out unarmed,” Prall said.

The suspect, who was only identified as a man in his 20s, is in custody. Prall said it’s still too early in the investigation to determine whether it’s a mental health issue that requires treatment or a criminal matter.

“We’re conferring with detectives and prosecutors about appropriate charges, if any, at this time,” he said.
