Man facing murder charges in Trotwood shooting

Murder, assault charges filed against Trotwood man in death of friend Prosecutors on Monday approved two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault for Randall Aniton in relation to a shooting in Trotwood.

TROTWOOD — A 64-year-old man was indicted on murder charges in a deadly shooting at a Trotwood home earlier this month.

Randall Aniton, of Trotwood, is facing two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault in the death of 53-year-old Myron Taylor, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

All charges include three-year firearm specifications.

On Dec. 21, Trotwood police responded to a Northford Road home on a reported shooting.

Once they arrived, Aniton told officers that he shot Taylor, according to the prosecutor’s office.

He reported the incident as a home invasion and told 911 dispatchers that he had shot an intruder.

Aniton was put in a police cruiser as officers found Taylor, who was shot twice.

An investigation reportedly revealed that the shooting happened after a brief altercation.

There was no indication that the shooting was in self-defense, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Aniton is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $1 million bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 7.
