DAYTON — A 40-year-old Dayton man was found Saturday afternoon in an alley with a gunshot wound.

The call came in around 3 p.m. for someone suffering a medical issue, but he turned out to be a shooting victim, Dayton police Sgt. Joe Heyob said.

Tyrance Hayes was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with “life-threatening” injuries, but the sergeant said he did not know where the man was hit on his body nor how many times.

Hospital officials said they had no information to report.

The Dayton police report provided few details, only that the “victim was shot.”

Hayes was found in an alley in the 800 block of Manhattan Avenue, Heyob said, but it’s not clear whether that is the same location he was shot.

Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the crime.
