A Dayton man was sentenced to 30 years in prison in the Frebruary shooting death of another man on Adelite Avenue

Marcus Brigham Jr., 27, pleaded guilty and was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence, having a weapon while under disability and aggravated robbery with a firearm specification, according to court records.
He received 11 years for involuntary manslaughter, 11 years for aggravated robbery with another three years for a firearm specification, three years for having a weapon while under disability and two years for tampering with evidence, according to a court official.
Brigham received credit for 191 days served.

He was also ordered to pay restitution to the victim’s mother for funeral expenses.
On Feb. 4, Diamond Carlton, 37, was fatally shot multiple times while attempting to buy drugs, according to Dayton police.
He was taken to the hospital, but died from injuries.
Brigham was identified as a person of interest and was booked into jail after being questioned by police, according to jail records.
He was indicted on murder, felonious assault, aggravated robbery and having a weapon while under disability.

All the charges were dropped except for having a weapon while under disability after he pleaded guilty to a bill of information filed Tuesday. The bill of information contained the involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence charges.
