Wesley Michael Slaughter, 20, changed his plea from not guilty by reason of insanity and on June 18 was convicted of five counts of aggravated arson in the Dec. 23, 2018, apartment fire at 1 Perry St., court documents show.
The fire destroyed the building of which Slaughter was a tenant and displaced dozens of residents. No one was injured in the fire, but what remained of the structure was demolished.
Slaughter is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 20 in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court. He could face up to 19 years in prison.
