Moraine man accused of driving stolen U-Haul in OSP pursuit indicted

DAYTON — A Moraine man hit with a Taser in December following a slow-speed pursuit in a stolen U-Haul was indicted this week.

James E. Wright Sr., 51, is charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer; receiving stolen property; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and vandalism, all felonies, according to a Montgomery County grand jury report released Wednesday.

Wright is no longer in custody and is ordered to appear Feb. 14 for arraignment in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Dayton Post, troopers on Dec. 14 tried to stop Wright on northbound I-75 near Northwoods Boulevard, but he did not pull over a U-Haul truck reported stolen.

He was eventually arrested in the Lowe’s parking lot in Huber Heights, after troopers hit with a Taser when they said he tried to run from the truck.
