DAYTON — A 21-year-old woman who rushed her small children to a fire station after she suspected they accidentally overdosed on drugs is facing charges.

Aarianna Melvin was indicted today for endangering children and possession of fentanyl-related compound, both felony charges, and a misdemeanor endangering children charge, according to a Montgomery County grand jury report.
Melvin took her two children, ages 2 years old and less than one year, on Sept. 12 to Dayton Fire Station 17 on West Third Street after she suspected the overdose. The children were taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital and were expected to be OK, investigators said.

Police searched Melvin’s residence in the 4600 block of Midway Avenue in Dayton, where the children were believed to have overdosed.
Inside, investigators said they found suspected fentanyl in the kitchen area and that the substance was on the feet and legs of the children.
Melvin is no longer in custody and has been summoned for arraignment Oct. 8 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
