3 Dayton police officers taken to hospital after fight with burglary suspects

DAYTON — UPADATE @ 6:15 a.m.:

The incident started when police were called to the home at 43 Boltin St. after two suspects who were involved in an assault Tuesday night kicked in the front door, Dayton police Sgt. Danielle Cash said.

When police arrived at the scene, the suspects allegedly attacked the officers and bit them as they fought. Three officers suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital, police said.

In addition, one suspect was taken to the hospital for injuries he suffered while allegedly breaking into the home, and the other suspect was arrested.

The officers who were injured and the suspects have not been identified.

FIRST REPORT:

Dayton police took multiple people into custody early this morning after they responded to a report of a burglary at a home at 43 Boltin St., according to scanner traffic.

Someone kicked in a door, according to scanner traffic, and when officers arrived, the suspects took off running. A brief foot chase ensued, and officers at the scene called for assistance, but that was lifted almost immediately when the suspects were apprehended.

One of the suspects was uncooperative and was fighter with officers, according to scanner traffic. Three ambulances were called to the scene and they transported patients.
