Sedan from Dayton pursuit, car-to-car gunfire exchange may be involved in Riverside shots fired case

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 5:58 a.m.:

The car that crashed near the Second Street Market after a pursuit early Friday morning may have been involved in a shots fired incident reported at a bar on Airway Road in Riverside, according to Riverside police Sgt. James Vance.

Vance said that the black Ford Taurus recovered from this crash matched the description of one that left EJ’s Lounge after several shots were fired, leaving behind multiple vehicles with bullet holes.

Riverside police took possession of the vehicle for their investigation, the sergeant said.

INITIAL REPORT:

Police are investigating near the Second Street Market after a report that two vehicles were shooting at each other led to a chase and crash, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch records.

Records said that officers pursued, and one of the vehicles crashed near the market. The driver fled on foot.

Our crew on scene reported that there is a black sedan crashed on scene and officers were searching the car.

Initial reports said that this pursuit began on Salem Avenue, but one of the two vehicles fled onto southbound Interstate 75. Reports also said that a black ski mask was found outside the crashed vehicle.
