DAYTON — Two people were in custody and police are investigating after a person reported finding their own recently-stolen vehicle filled with bullet holes and blood on the interior, according to Dayton Police Lt. Randy Beane.

Beane said that officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Huffman Avenue on a report of a stolen vehicle and shots being fired around 1 a.m. Monday.

Police found a vehicle on scene that was stolen yesterday from Harrison Township, but now had several bullet holes and blood inside of it. The owner of the vehicle, who had called police, was on scene.

A Dayton police report shows Mikkia Preston, 28, was arrested during the police investigation.  He’s booked in jail on suspicion of receiving stolen property.

Officers searched the area, and found a male who was covered in blood but ran away from them, Beane said. Police were able to catch him, but he hadn’t been shot - he told police that he had been in the car with someone else who had been shot.

That person has not yet been found.

Beane had said that police had two people in custody that they were interviewing about this incident, and they believe that only two people were in the car when the shooting happened.

However, incident report did not list a second arrest, so it is not clear whether the second person was released by police.
