Trotwood police say car owner uncooperative in fatal hit-skip crash

TROTWOOD — UPDATE @ 10:24 a.m. (Jan. 26)

Trotwood police say the death of Nathan Hairston earlier this month was the result of a hit-and-run crash.

Hairston was found down on the ground around 2 a.m. Jan. 18 in the 4800 block of Free Pike.

Police say Hairston was walking home from work and had gotten off an RTA bus in the area. He was struck by a silver Pontiac Grand Prix while crossing the street.

Trotwood police found license plate Ohio HGB-4879 from a silver 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix with four doors. Police have identified the owner, who is not cooperating with police and the vehicle has not been located.

UPDATE @ 4:45 p.m. (Jan. 18)

The man who was found dead Thursday morning as a result of a person down call has been identified as Nathan Hairston, according to the Montgomery County coroner’s office.

Hairston was 40 years old and a Trotwood resident.

Police are investigating after they were called to reports of a person down in Trotwood early Thursday.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Free Pike and Hermosa Drive around 2 a.m.

As of 4 a.m., police remain on scene.
