DAYTON — Two men are facing multiple charges after approximately 8 pounds of drugs, thousands of dollars and two guns were found in a North Upland Avenue home, according to Dayton police.
Dashawn Works, 31, and Louis Bonner Jr., 43, were arrested on a combination of drug and weapons charges Tuesday evening.
Officers were surveilling a suspected drug house on Upland Avenue when a group of men exited the house and tried to leave in a Dodge Charger and pickup truck.
A police cruiser reportedly blocked the Charger in the driveway and a man in the front passenger seat, later identified as Works, took off on foot.
Works reportedly threw a clear plastic bag as he fled.
Officers were able to take him in to custody on North Decker Avenue after a brief struggle.
Approximately 5.4 grams of suspected fentanyl was found in the bag, according to the report. Officers also found $3,600 on him, as well as two cell phones.
Back at the house, the Charger was also searched for drugs. Officers found about 8 grams of suspected fentanyl in the vehicle.
That discovery prompted a search warrant for the house.
Once entering the home, officers noted the smell of burning marijuana, according to a report.
During the search the officers found the following:
- Marijuana grinder
- Digital scale
- Two handguns
- Multiple bags of marijuana and meth
- $1,622 in cash
The bags of marijuana weighed a total 3,452 grams and the meth weighed 175 grams, according to the report.
One of the handguns found in the house was reported stolen out of Springfield.
Bonner, who lives in the house with his son, reportedly told officers that he does not sell drugs, but allowed his friends to come over and stay sometimes.
Officers found 3 grams of marijuana on Bonner was well as $671 dollars, according to the report.
He is facing preliminary charges of having weapons while under disability and possession of drugs.
Works is facing possession of drugs, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and a parole violation.
Charges have not been officially filed for either of the men.
