DAYTON — UPDATE @ 8:15 p.m.
A gunman who robbed Boost Mobile on Monday night fired three shots at a security guard on rounds in back of the Westown Shopping Center in the 4000 block of West Third Street in Dayton.
“I confronted the suspect in the back. I yelled, ‘hey,’ so he noticed that I was security and he shot at me,” Kelan Evans said.
“I think he fired twice at me and once in the air,” he said.

Evans said he hit the ground when the shots rang out and luckily was not hurt.
In his line of work, a robbery is not entirely unexpected, he said.
“You never know what can happen,” Evans said. “But something like that, that brazen, I never seen that coming at all.”

A Boost Mobile store robber fired three shots at a Westown Shopping Center security guard.
The robbery happened shortly after 6:45 p.m. at the store at 4263 W. Third St. in Dayton.
The security guard said he was not struck by gunfire, and that he believed the robber got away with cash.
According to initial reports, the robber was described as a male wearing a yellow mask, a black hat with a duffel bag who was last seen running west toward Elmhurst Road.
It was not clear whether he got into a vehicle, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.
