Police: Man with AK-47, revolver fires shots outside home, at neighbor in Dayton

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 9 p.m.

A man fired a gun at a neighbor who confronted him for firing shots outside his house Christmas Eve.

The man who had an AK-47 and a revolver had been shooting firearms outside his house in the 2800 block of East First Street, Dayton police said.

Police responded shortly after 6:30 p.m. and surrounded the house. They tried to get him to come out, but discovered that no one was inside.

The suspect was found a block and a half away and was taken into custody. It is not yet clear what charges he faces.

FIRST REPORT

A man who fired a gun Christmas Eve night locked himself inside home and apparently was refusing to come out for responding officers.

Police were called shortly after 6:30 p.m. to the 2800 block of East First Street, which is blocked.

Officers were trying to talk to the man and are using a bullhorn to try to get him to come out, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

Officers were seen with rifles drawn.

No injuries were reported with the shots fired call, and the man was believed to be alone in the house, police said.
