SPRINGFIELD — A 41-year-old man was shot twice when he was found early Tuesday in the middle of Clifton Avenue, according to investigators.

Officers responded around 2:30 a.m. to the 1500 block of Clifton Avenue.

The man was flown to Miami Valley Hospital, where he is listed in serious, but stable condition, authorities said. His name has not been released.

Bailey Jenkins and his friends were nearby house when they heard gunshots.

“We were chillin’ down the street from my grandma’s, and we heard like three, four maybe five gunshots,” he said. “So we’re like, ‘what’s going on?’ So we pull around the corner and we just see somebody lying there, and then we don’t want to be in it, so we just skirted off to Speedway.”

The teen say he and his friends didn’t call 911 because they were too afraid, but saw police in the area minutes later.

Springfield police said at this point they don’t have any suspects in the shooting.
