STOP inmate escapes from work detail at Dayton school

DAYTON — A STOP program inmate who walked away Thursday from a work detail in downtown Dayton is still on the lam.

Chad Branch, 18, of Miamisburg, was in the secure transitional offender program, a drug and alcohol intervention facility, that is overseen by the Montgomery County courts.

He escaped from a work detail at the Dayton Early College Academy, also known as DECA Prep.

He was indicted for the Oct. 5 theft of a woman’s car subsequent attempt to elude police in Miamisburg, court records show.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years of probation plus admitted into the STOP facility for treatment.

Branch was declared an absconder on Thursday and a nationwide warrant was issued for his arrest.
