A woman found dead inside a South Hedges Street home on Monday was identified as Cora Rose Grubb, 26, by Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.
The suspect in the homicide investigation also is dead following an officer-involved shooting early Tuesday morning.

Here’s what we know so far:
- Cora Grubb was found deceased Oct. 29 inside 238 S. Hedges St. in Dayton
- Erik Michael Evans, 32, was identified as a suspect
- Around 12:35 a.m., Evans exchanged gunfire with police at a gas station at Free Pike and North Gettysburg Avenue
- Evans died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to an autopsy
Grubb’s cause and manner of death has not been determined.
Police were called to the 200 block of South Hedges Street on a report of a suspicious odor coming from the house.
Later Monday, Evans was identified as a suspect.

After receiving information that Evans may be in the area, an officer found him at a Shell Station at Free Pike and North Gettysburg Avenue.
As the officer approached him, Evans pulled out a gun and started firing at the officer.
While the officer fired back at Evans, an autopsy concluded that Evans died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.
