CELINA — A 14-year-old boy accused of raping a 5-year-old child in Mercer County was extradited from Tennessee to Ohio.
On Monday, two deputies from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office drove to Murfreesboro, Tenn., and took custody of the teen and brought him back to Ohio. He is now held in the West Central Ohio Juvenile Detention Center in Troy, which is the facility that houses youth for Mercer County, according to a release from Sheriff Jeff Grey.

The teen was charged with rape Dec. 31 in Mercer County Juvenile Court and he was taken into custody Jan. 9 in Robertson County, Tennessee.
During a court appearance in Robertson County Juvenile Court, the teen waved his extradition hearing and was taken to a juvenile detention facility in Tennessee awaiting the deputies from Mercer County.
