Toddlers found alone on Troy porch; it took 4 hours to find their mother, police say

A Troy mother remains behind bars after her 2½-year-old son and 22-month-old daughter were found Monday morning on the front porch of a neighbor’s home in the Westbrook section of Troy.

Bonnie G. Smith, 31, was found four hours later two doors down from where her young children were found alone. The two children were never reported missing.

Following a Tuesday morning court appearance, Smith is being held on $20,000 cash bond in the Miami County Jail on two counts of children endangering.

She has previous convictions of child neglect, court records show.
