DAYTON — A West Carrollton woman was in handcuffs Wednesday morning when courtroom security video captured her attack of a public defender at a Dayton courthouse.

Kallen Nicole Wood, 28, who was in Dayton Municipal Court for a misdemeanor domestic violence case, now faces two counts of intimidation and two counts of retaliation, all felony charges; and one misdemeanor assault charge for the incident that happened around 10:45 a.m., according to a Dayton police report.

Wood was in court Wednesday and was supposed to go to trial in the domestic violence and assault case stemming from a Jan. 10 incident, court records show. However, she wanted a new lawyer, which was granted, and a new trial was set for April 30.

On her way out of the courtroom, Wood is shown on camera striking the public defender in the head. She also threatened to kill the magistrate, according to court documents.

Wood was back in court Thursday without further incident for her arraignment on the newest charges.

Her bond was set at $100,000 and she remains held in the Montgomery County Jail.
