Both packages delivered around 11 a.m. by UPS were addressed to different women, neither affiliated with the Dayton Police Department. They had return labels from the same person, but different addresses in Santa Clara and East Palo Alto, California, according to a police incident report.
Due to the suspicious nature of the packages, Sgt. Teddy Trupp contacted Lt. Jason Hall of the bomb squad.
After Hall determined the contents were not explosives, officers opened them.
Inside they found a dumbbell, a can of refried beans, an owner’s manual to a Hyundai Elantra and a vacuum sealed pack with four empty cannabis jars, the report stated.
