TROY — Just in the last month investigators identified a woman found strangled to death 37 years ago in Miami County.

Using a new genetic genealogy tool, the Miami Valley Crime Lab was able to confirm the woman’s identification as 21-year-old Marcia King of Arkansas.

Her body was found April 25, 1981, in a ditch on the side of Greenlee Road.

“Now knowing her name, the homicide investigation intensifies, focusing on the last month of Marcia’s life,” Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak said.

At one point, King spent some time in northern Shelby County.

Detectives are again asking the public for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her death.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's tip line at 937-440-3990 or leave tips at www.miamicountysheriff.org/contact-us-1.

King was laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Troy. There are no current plans to exhume her remains for reburial closer to her home in Arkansas.
