ANSONIA — One person was taken by CareFlight to the hospital after a motorcycle crash in Darke County Saturday Afternoon, according to a media release.

Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the crash at the 14,000 block of State Route 118 at around 4:13 p.m.
Preliminary investigations showed Deputies, that a group of motorcycles were traveling Northbound on State Route 118 when the group was slowing down to turn Westbound onto State Route 319.
James Schaffner, 48 of Delphos, was operating a white 2019 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe but could not slow down in time and rear-ended a Blue 2019 Harley-Davidson Road Glide used by John Riggs, 63, and passenger both of St. Mary’s, the release said.
Schaffner was ejected from his motorcycle without a helmet and taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight, sheriff’s deputies say. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Riggs and his passenger were not hurt in the crash.
It remains under investigation.
