Coroner identifies 2 men killed in fiery Dayton crash

DAYTON — Two men are dead following a fiery crash in Dayton early Monday morning.

Brandon Lucas, 27, and Shawn Bolding, 55, were identified by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office Tuesday as the two people killed in the crash on Riverside Drive.

Dayton Police and medics were dispatched to Riverside Drive, near Maplewood and E. Hillcrest Avenues, just after 12:30 a.m. on initial reports of a crash, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

Callers described to dispatchers in 911 calls obtained by News Center 7 hearing a loud explosion and one of the vehicles involved was on fire.

“We heard a big boom and explosion,” a male caller said. “The car is on fire and some other stuff is on fire.”

A female caller described fire everywhere from the crash.

“A tree is on fire, the car is on fire,” she said. “Sidewalk is on fire, the road is on fire.”

Another caller said someone was ejected from the vehicle.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
