Coroner IDs 2 men killed in Butler Co. shooting

HAMILTON — Two people are dead and two others are injured after a shooting in Hamilton Tuesday evening.

Jonathan Jones, 29, and Dariel Perez, 22, both of Hamilton, were identified Friday as the victims killed in the shooting, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

Crews were called to the 700 block of South 2nd Street around 7 p.m. to reports of shots fired, according to Hamilton Police Lieutenant Jon Richardson.

When crews arrived they found three people with gunshot wounds, according to our news partners at WCPO.

Perez was pronounced dead on scene, according to the coroner’s office. Jones was taken to Kettering Health Hamilton where he died from his injuries.

A third person was taken to the hospital for their injuries.

A three-year old was also wounded by bullet fragments during the shooting, according to Hamilton Police Lieutenant Patrick Erb.
