Coroner’s office IDs victim in Manhattan Avenue shooting in Dayton

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 7:45 p.m.: A 24-year-old Huber Heights man has been identified as the victim in the Friday morning shooting on Manhattan Avenue.

The victim is Jayven Kilgore, the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office said.

Dayton police said their initial investigation found that as many as five males were involved in an altercation before the shooting. But, police said, the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

Police blocked off a large portion of Manhattan Avenue after finding evidence that spanned two blocks, investigators said.

Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Manhattan Avenue just before 7 a.m. on the report of shots fired in the area. A medic unit was sent a short time later after Montgomery County Regional Dispatch received reports that someone had been shot.
