HARRISON TWP., Montgomery County — A man is facing charges after a domestic violence investigation started in Dayton and ended near a Dayton Public School with a countywide call for help last month and new body camera footage provides a new perspective on the incident.
Police responded around 9:30 a.m. Sept. 23 to a domestic violence situation in the 300 block Nicholas Road and a follow-up investigation led officers to the area of the Charity Adams Academy at 440 Shoup Mill Road around 10:20 a.m.

The incident began after Robert Hines Jr., 34, of Dayton, and his girlfriend got into an argument over his wallet getting left outside in the rain and his birth certificate getting damaged, according to court records.
Body camera video obtained by News Center 7 Thursday showed police interacting with Hines in the back of a police cruiser.
“Robert proceeded to follow (his girlfriend) around the house while verbally berating her,” court records read. “He also took her cell phone and car keys from her.”
The incident eventually led Hines and his girlfriend to Charity Adams Academy, where the girlfriend was dropping off her children at school.
Montgomery County deputies were able to arrest Hines at the school. While Hines was being transferred from a sheriff’s office cruiser to a Dayton police cruiser, he broke through the officers and ran, according to Dayton Police Lt. Matt Beavers.
The body camera footage showed Hines running off from police and his eventually capture in a wooded area nearby.
An officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment of some bumps, bruises and cuts, Beavers said.
A call for help from across Montgomery County prompted multiple cities to respond to the scene to help search in the manhunt for the suspect.
“There’s strength in numbers,” Beavers said.

Hines was captured near the school.
“He was very apologetic and admitted his responsibility in everything that happened,” Beavers said. “He wanted to speak to the officer that he did injure...he seemed like he was sincere.”
Beavers said the school was never in danger. A Dayton Public Schools spokeswoman said the school sheltered in place during the incident, but the building was not in lockdown.
Officers blocked portions of Shoup Mill Road near North Main Street and near Riverside Drive while they searched for the suspect. The Ohio State Highway Patrol aviation unit also assisted.
Hines is charged with abduction, domestic violence and obstructing official business, court records show.
The officer today is the second officer injured in recent days while investigating a crime. Dayton Police Officer Thadeu Holloway was shot during an altercation with a fraud suspect. The suspect, Antwyane Lowe, 39, of Dayton, was shot multiple times after Holloway returned fire.
