Shawn M. McNary, 46, remains in the Montgomery County Jail Thursday following an appearance in Kettering Municipal Court earlier in the day. McNary pleaded not guilty during a video arraignment to charges of having weapons under disability, discharging a firearm at a habitation, and trespassing.

Bond for McNary was set at $10,000.

The incident started as a weapons complaint after a neighbor reported hearing several shots. The witness reported to police that when they went to investigate the source of the noise, McNary pointed the gun at him, which later prompted the response from police and SWAT units.

According to court records, McNary told investigators he fired the shots at the walls of his apartment because he thought people were trying to enter into the apartment through them. While searching the apartment, police found several shell casings inside the apartment, along with several bullet holes in the ceiling and walls, court records show.

McNary is next scheduled to appear in court Nov. 12.
